What should I do after the client signs the Will?

Answer:
After the Will has been signed:

  1. Scan the signed Will.

  2. Go to the client's profile.

  3. Locate the latest generated document.

  4. Click Edit.

  5. Scroll down to Document Submission.

  6. Select Upload Finalised Will.

  7. Upload the scanned signed copy.

The uploaded copy is kept for record purposes. The legally valid Will remains the physical original document.

The physical original should either:

  • Be handed to the client; or

  • Be placed under lifetime custody with the relevant trustee/custody service, if the client has selected that service.

Is the uploaded scanned Will the legally valid original?

Answer:
No. The scanned copy uploaded into Koha is primarily for record purposes.

The physical original signed Will remains the important original document.
